“Arvia is a very evident symbol of optimism for the future of the cruise industry as we see a new generation recognising the value for money and individuality of a holiday at sea. No matter where you choose to cruise on P&O Arvia, you’re sure to have an incredible time exploring these amazing ports of call. For those who enjoy more active pursuits, P&O Arvia has a mini-golf course, skywalk rope climb and a sports court.

Arvia's naming ceremony was remembered for the breaking (in the hull) of the world’s largest bottle of rum - Mount Gay Rum's Black Barrel - in a specially made 15-liter glass bottle. A replica of the 15L Black Barrel (demijohn bottle) remained on the liner. The new venues join P&O UK's favorites, such as The Glass House, Epicurean, Sindhu, and Brodie's, from the long list of restaurants, cafes, bars and lounges, self-service choices. Not traditionally for P&O UK, Arvia offers exclusively "Freedom Dining" (aka "Flexible Dining") in all main dining rooms.

And if you’re feeling brave (not me – eek!), you can even try the ship’s Skywalk, a high ropes course that takes you way above the deck. This swanky venue provides the perfect backdrop for an enjoyable night out. Whether you’re catching a live show or simply catching up with friends over drinks, its sophisticated interior and comfortable seating create the ultimate relaxation spot after a day of adventure.

This event is a long-held ship-building tradition which is to bring good luck to the ship and its crew through construction to the future at sea. Specially selected Barbados coins were placed under the block before the block was then lowered onto the coins. As the second in P&O Cruises Excel Class, Arvia cruise ship is structurally identical to sister ship Iona. Arvia has more than 30 bars and restaurants, but whereas sister ship Iona has four main dining rooms, Arvia only has two. One is the included 6th Street Diner -- a hugely popular all-American diner with a gourmet Southern twist.

The conservatory opens out fully and leads directly onto the suite's balcony. It also can be used for private parties and celebrations with an in-cabin beverage service by a dedicated butler. One of the ship’s most exciting new features is the SkyDome, a retractable glass-roofed space that transforms from a pool area during the day to an entertainment venue at night.
Arvia bars all offer P&O’s own brand gin and rum, made in the onboard distillery. The best place to try this is in the gin bar Anderson’s, ideally placed for a pre- or post-dinner tipple. These range from suites with butler service, inclusive room service, whirlpool bath, and an exclusive breakfast restaurant, through to value-focused inside cabins.

If you’re a creature of habit on a cruise, you may do better to consider a smaller ship. In addition to the main theater and SkyDome, there is the Limelight cabaret club and the intimate 710 club, together with live music in various bars around the ship. And even cruise from there, Arvia is the biggest cruise ship presently operated by a British-focused cruise line and is based for most of the year in Southampton, Britain’s busiest cruise port.
The 3D gaming experiences feature surround sound, stunning underwater scenery, sunken cities, real and fictional sea creatures. The simulators were developed by tennagels Medientechnik GmbH (1999-founded, Dusseldorf-based company specializing in creative media systems). New (Arvia ship exclusive) treatments include Kneipp Walk (pebble foot massage combined with hot-and-cold water treatments). Part of the wellness complex is also the fleet-first Barber Station (haircuts/male grooming collections from the premium brands American Crew, Barbour Pro, Clarins for Men, Clinique for Men).
6th Street Diner Offers An All-American Eating Experience
Arvia offers Freedom dining exclusively in the Zenith and Meridian restaurants. Speciality dining experiences are also available in several other venues, plus there are snack bars, cafés and other options on board. With a choice of 30 venues, Arvia has many food and beverage bars open from early-morning until late-night. At the front of the ship on Deck 17, the Crow’s Nest is a typical cruise ship observation lounge that morphs into a sophisticated piano and cocktail bar in the evenings. It’s one of the few places onboard other than the main dining rooms where the ‘gala night’ dress code is enforced.
Two new for P&O UK aerial shows (Virtuosi, Spark) were developed for MS Iona and available on Arvia too.
This vital section of the ship houses all the main engines and is a wonder of maritime engineering. Enjoy a sneak peek of the base of Arvia’s Grand Atrium staircase, her SkyDome (with whirlpools, pool and stage areas) and the tear-shaped infinity pool and swim-up bar. Much of this history is displayed on board Arvia, and illustrations and information panels are displayed aboard other ships in the current P&O fleet. The original maiden voyage scheduled for December 2022 was cancelled and the ship sailed for the Caribbean via Southampton after a Canary Islands cruise departing on 23 December. Arvia (Yard no S716), which means ‘from the seashore’, was laid down on 15 February 2022. She is the second Excellence class ship and follows near sister Iona, being completed at the Meyer Werft shipyard, Papenburg, Germany.
The other is the a la carte plant-based restaurant Green & Co, which, despite its inventive and tasty cuisine, is much quieter…though this may well change as it catches on. Here dishes come with a small fee and there's also a sushi bar which is a great alternative for lunch. While Arvia lacks the brash water parks and daredevil slides of the biggest cruise ships at sea, there are some modern attractions that will suit younger guests. From a rope climbing course at the very top of the ship to an escape room, casino, and even a three-screen cinema, Arvia is packed with things to do no matter what type of cruise you enjoy.
If you can tear them away from the clubs, there’s a wide range of activities and entertainment to enjoy all together, as well as lots of delicious dining options. "The Club House" (Deck 8) is a multi-purpose indoor/outdoor space for families to enjoy afternoon entertainment and play fun games. In the evening, it becomes a late-night "music hall" for dancing and live performances by Arvia ship's band (named "Pulse").
But there are several options available should you wish to try something different, and the prices are reasonable when compared to premium restaurants on many other lines. The 6th Street Diner is one of the most popular alternate dining venues on Arvia. There’s also a handy nightlight by the bathroom door that is controllable from the bedside switches.

Arvia celebrates all the things you know and love about a P&O Cruises holiday while also giving you the chance to explore brand-new venues. It’s all about more choice, more freedom and more unforgettable moments. "It takes its sister ship Iona’s design aesthetic and general arrangement but provides new and exciting outside and inside spaces which make the most of Arvia’s deployment to the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. The 185,000 GT-ton, 345-m-long Arvia is P&O UK's second LNG-powered ship, and among the marine industry’s most advanced vessels. P&O Arvia has an optimized hull design to minimize drag and is installed with the latest energy-efficient technology onboard.
